Patients like Celeste, who was born unresponsive and not breathing in 2012. After being resuscitated, she was rushed to UF Health Jacksonville where she was treated with a Criticool-Cooling Control Unit, a machine that was purchased with CMN Hospital funds earlier that year. The cooling cap limited and healed any brain damage that may have occurred during her birth. For some time following her resuscitation, Celeste continued to receive expert care from doctors after being discharged from the hospital. Since then, she has also been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, specifically muscle weakness and spasms. Today, she is a happy-go-lucky kid who plays violin, does gymnastics and ballet, and doesn’t take a single day of her miracle life for granted. She fills every day with positive energy as she explores and discovers the world around her.
