Miracle Monday- McKenna

CMN Hospitals Jacksonville’s Miracle Kid, McKenna

Today is Child Health Day!

Parents Jason and Melissa welcomed their daughter McKenna into the world in October 2016. They knew that McKenna would be born with an extra 21st Chromosome, and were prepared to deal with the challenges of trisomy 21. What they weren’t prepared for was learning about their daughter’s tracheoesophageal fistula, aesophageal atresia, and her congenital heart defect. At just two days old McKenna had her first surgery to connect her esophagus, since then 20+ surgeries have followed. McKenna has been treated at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Mom and dad think the best part of the hospital is the staff who are always so kind and do their best to take care of daughter.  Melissa says “ Our  local CMN Hospitals provide top notch care, a staff of inspirational encouragers and cheerleaders that take care of not only their patients but the whole family!”

McKenna will be turning three soon! She is still learning to eat, and has a heart surgery ahead of her but is full of energy and enthusiasm.  McKenna enjoys watching Mickey Mouse and competes in beauty pageants.  She also likes running around and playing with her little sister Molly.
