Jacksonville’s Ace Hardware gives back to Miracle families.

On Tuesday, May 21, teams from local Ace Hardware retailers gave five deserving families yard makeovers as part of their Pay It 4ward campaign with News4Jax. Dedicated to this day of service, they headed out to two Angelwood group homes and three homes of Miracle families whose children were treated at our local Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals – UF Health Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

“We had a wonderful day working and talking with the Ace hardware staff while they gave our yard a makeover. It will be a memory that I will forever cherish! Luke and Zoe love watering the grass and plants now!” – Kayla Breeding (Breeding Family – Kevin, Kayla, Luke and Zoe)

Ace Hardware became a CMN Hospitals partner in 1991. Since then, they have raised over $100 million for local CMN Hospitals all over the country. Ace Hardware runs several campaigns throughout the year including in April Change Round-up, Bucket Days in August and Ace Fore Kids Golf Classic.

Of the many families Ace Hardware has helped over the years, gave three local families a yard face lift, including the Breeding Family.

Zoe Breeding was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect prior to birth that caused her to undergo two open heart surgeries before she was one. Their family loves to play outside and is thankful for their new backyard.

On the other side of town, the Johnson family was also given a yard makeover. Owen was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia. By age four he already had two open heart surgeries-with more to come. Ace Hardware built their family a beautiful raised garden where Owen can get involved watering and tending to the plants.

CMN Hospitals is so proud to have Ace Hardware continued support of our local families and pediatric hospitals!

“When your community rallies around you – wow, what an incredible feeling. There are not enough words to express how thankful we are to have been a part of this heart-warming initiative. It may look like just a garden to most, but for us, it will make a lasting impact on my family as a way for us to encourage our brave Heart Warrior Owen to push past his food aversions.” – Sarah Johnson
